Ways to Cook London Broil

Before learning the ways to cook London broil, understand that it is a cooking method, not a steak. The meats sold as London broil are either round or flank steak. These are the steaks used to make the dish, so don’t get confused.

London Broil with Italian Dressing

2 lbs of flank steak
Garlic cloves
2 tbsp of vinegar (or red wine)
½ cup of Italian salad dressing
2 tbsp of cooking oil (any type)

Get a large bowl. Pour in the Italian salad dressing, the vinegar / wine and garlic. Add in the two tbsp of cooking oil. This will be your marinade. Take the steak and make several incisions on both sides. Put the meat on the baking dish. Using this way to cook London broil is quite easy, as you just need to immerse the meat in the marinade to give it flavor.

Make sure the steaks are totally immersed. Store the marinade and meats in the fridge for an hour. Discard the marinade sauce. Turn on the oven. Preheat it and put the steaks in the pan. Place the pan a couple of inches from the main heat.

If you want it medium, cook for 8 minutes per side. Cook a few minutes longer if you want the meat well done. Cut the steaks into edible chunks before serving.

Grilled London Broil

3 tbsp of lemon juice
2 tbsp of red wine
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp of salt
2 tbsp of ground flakes
2 pieces of garlic (crushed)
½ cup of cooking oil
2 tbsp of coarse black ground pepper
1 lb of flank steaks

This way to cook London broil is no more complicated than the other one. Take a large bowl and pour all the ingredients there (except the steaks). Mix them well. Next take a sharp knife and make crisscrossing cuts on the right side of the meat.

Repeat this on the left side. Place the meat in the bowl. Seal the container and put it in the fridge for two hours. Turn the meat at the end of one hour.

Set the grill on to high. Take out the meat and throw away the marinade. Put the steaks on the grill. Cook it for 8 minutes on each side.

Note: when using this way to cook London broil, you can keep some of the marinade and use it for basting. Or you can just make a similar mix and baste the meat with it.

Feel free to change the amount of seasoning used in the recipes. For some spicier results, you can add some chili powder. Others like to add a drop or two of lemon juice. When it comes to herbs and spices, bay leaves, ale and ginger are pretty good choices.
