Ways to Cook Potatoes

Potatoes make for excellent side or main dishes. But if you’re tired of the same old taste, you can try assorted ways to cook potatoes. Here are some ideas you can look into.

Fried Potatoes

Remove the potato skin. Cut the potatoes into ¼ inch slices. Add a tsp of oil in the pan. Put the potatoes in the frying pan when the oil is hot. You’ll get greasy fries if the oil isn’t heated enough. Cook the potatoes until they turn brown. When it’s finished, put
the fries in a paper towel. Allow the juices and oil to drain out.

Put the fries on a serving plate. Sprinkle some salt or pepper on it. You can also use sour cream dips. Others like to add onions or garlic for toppings.

Make Mashed Potatoes

One of the most delicious ways to cook potatoes is by mashing them. Take off the skin and slice the potatoes into cubes. Put them in a pot. Add salt if needed. Allow the potatoes to simmer for 20 minutes. When they’re soft enough, drain it. Prepare half a cup of milk and heat it.

Pour the milk on the potatoes. Add some butter as well. You can use a potato masher to crush it at the level you want. If you don’t want milk, you can add sour cream instead. You can also add other seasonings or spices.

These are two of the more popular ways to cook potatoes. Before baking, preheat the oven to a temp of 450 F. Use a knife to poke the potato and pierce it twice. Bake it for an hour. When it’s done, you can add various toppings. Popular choices include sour cream, butter and cheese.

If you want to roast the potatoes, start by cutting the potatoes in two. Don’t remove the skin. Preheat the oven to a temp of 450 F. Put the potatoes on a baking sheet. Add some oil and butter. Put on the garlic, onion and other herbs. Cook the potatoes without covering them for 60 minutes.

Making Pancakes

Grate some onions and potatoes. Put them in a bowl. Add one egg and a couple of tablespoons of flour. If you’re using this way to cook potatoes, you have to prepare 3 tbsp of oil. Heat the oven up to a temp of 350 F. Put 1/3 cup of melted butter in a saucepan. Add 3 garlic cloves and a cup of cream. Allow this mixture to simmer.

Remove the potato skin. Wash and cut into thin slices. Put the potatoes in a baking dish. Make layers of potatoes, sandwiching sauces (your choice) between them. Bake it for an hour and 15 minutes.
