Clean Your House

As long as ants don’t find any food residues in your living room or anywhere else in your home, you can be sure that they will have one more reason to get out of your house. Since ants are generally attracted to food particles in your home that you can’t see, you should expect to find them in the kitchen, living room, and other places in your house that has food pieces lying around.

Vacuum Corners and Crevices

This is one of the practical and natural ways to get rid of ants. Some small pieces of food could have gotten stuck in crannies and crevices that will catch the attention of ants. Sometimes ants are even able to get into the carpet, which makes it a bit more difficult to get rid of them. You can sprinkle some borax before vacuuming to help get rid of the ants that have crept in.

Make the House Undesirable

Next, you can also use aromatic herbs to get rid of ants. You can try peppermint, sage, and lavender for example. Place them in doorjambs, in your cabinets, and under your carpet and rugs. To keep the ants away from the window, use some freshly squeezed lemons.

Remove the Mound

One practical way to get rid of ants is to get rid of their mound. Boil some water and pour it in the ant mound. This will hopefully kill ants and the queen and destroy the eggs if the boiling water goes deep enough. You may want to mix in some dish soap in your water to help remove the ants.
